The Diocese of Wheeling-Charleston has long supported the needs of Catholic students at Shepherd University.
In 2004, Catholic Campus Ministry was officially formed as a student group on campus. Mass was held on campus about once a month. Students often participated in the life of the area parishes. In 2006, the Diocese of Wheeling Charleston decided to hire a full-time campus minister to serve the needs of the students. Finally in 2008, the Good Shepherd Catholic Campus Ministry Center was blessed and dedicated by Bishop Bransfield. The Center allows students an opportunity for fellowship and outreach, as well as a weekly place for Liturgy. In 2014 Sunday masses for the college community were moved to the historic St Agnes Chapel at 240 Church St, five blocks from the campus ministry center.
