Welcome!

Welcome to The Catholic Campus Ministry Center, a welcoming faith group rooted in Catholic tradition. We are a group of individuals who strive to grow in faith, through the sacraments and service. Our ministry is open to all students, faculty and staff of Shepherd University.

All are welcome to this ministry, and we hope that you will find a home here with us.  Our center houses a kitchen, lounge, study room, chapel, and spacious backyard.  Students have access to kitchen facilities, printing, Wi-Fi, cell phone/computer chargers, and laundry.  A library of spiritual/religious books and media, and prayer resources including rosaries, prayer books, and a chapel with a tabernacle are available during the semester.  The center is supervised by the campus minister, Maggie Moran.

The sacrament of reconciliation is available to students at St. James (49 Crosswinds Dr, Charles Town, WV 25414) on Wednesdays from 5:00 pm- 6:45 pm, Saturdays from 3:00pm-4:45pm, and every first Thursday of the month.

Adoration is available at St. James every Wednesday starting at 6:00pm until Daily Mass at 7:00pm. They also have an Adoration Chapel which is open 24 hours daily.

History

The Diocese of Wheeling-Charleston has long supported the needs of Catholic students at Shepherd University.

In 2004, Catholic Campus Ministry was officially formed as a student group on campus. Mass was held on campus about once a month. Students often participated in the life of the area parishes. In 2006, the Diocese of Wheeling Charleston decided to hire a part-time campus minister to serve the needs of the students. Finally in 2008, the Good Shepherd Catholic Campus Ministry Center was blessed and dedicated. The Center allows students an opportunity for fellowship and outreach.

Maggie Moran – Campus Minister

Maggie is the campus minister at Shepherd University.  She fell in love with the Diocese of Wheeling-Charleston while serving as a camp counselor at Camp Carlo Acutis in Huttonsville, WV last summer. With a desire to serve the Lord and remain in West Virginia, she sought out work in a campus ministry setting. Maggie is very excited to share the Catholic faith with the students and faculty at Shepherd and to show Christ’s love to all whom she encounters. You can reach Maggie at mmoran@dwc.org or on Instagram @goodshepherdccm. Please don’t hesitate to reach out! Know of her prayers for you all.
